To return or not to return...

So I came home today to find a package at the door. It's from wine.com. It was addressed to a previous tenant. However, I'm guessing this was a couple of tenants ago since I didn't recognize the name. We seem to get a lot of mail from more recent previous tenants. Anyway, the last time a package arrived not for us I called the company to have it returned. I had to be transfered about 5 times before someone finally took down my information so that they could send me a shipping label. And then the package sat around for about 2 weeks before I got the label and was able to return it.

So, the question is, do I want to go through with that again? I decided to open up the box to see what kind of wine it was. I only did this because I knew I could tape it back up again and no one would really be the wise. It's a $20 bottle of Shiraz. So part of me says keep it. If the sender really wanted their friend to have it, they should have checked the address in adcance. However, I also would know that if I were sending a gift and it went to the wrong address, I would prefer that it be returned so that I could make sure that the intended recipient got it.

So help be my counsious. Should I keep it or return it?

I'd say return it. As being a gift giver and getting a gift back a year later, I still don't know why the recipient never got it... but I'm glad to have it back rather than someone else that I don't know.

You'll feel better in the long run.

I'm torn actually! That's alot of work for you to have to return it. Did it come from the company or a person's address? If it came from the company I might keep it?? I know it's terrible I feel bad even saying it. It's just a lot to return it. But it's the holidays so the guilt would be alot stronger. I dont know I'd have to see what other people say. Glad to see your back to bloggin'...missed it.

It was sent by the company. And returning it would also be delayed because on Sat am we go to Georgia until late Tuesday night. There's no way they can get me a return label (I'm not paying to return it) before we leave. Chris commented that it's red and I don't drink red wine, but my theory is we have a party coming up on January and I'll just serve it then.
I hate this. I can totally see both points of view on it.

I say enjoy it! Maybe it was meant to be that it showed up on your doorstep...not keeping it for your party in January would be going against the wine gods that obviously willed you to have it. Whose god of the wines..someone on a hilltop in Italy for sure and SHE would be sour if you didn't take it. I say keep it-the company sent it-enjoy it!

I know you don't want to hear this but I would say return it. Even if it has to wait til you get home, I'd still return it. Think if you were the giver and the person never got their gift, you'd be annoyed.
